Expanding diversity programs comes with benefits, summit told

Inclusion and diversity programs are likely to make everyone uncomfortable, but advocates said the tension is worth the benefits to employees and the bottom line.

Experts spent the day explaining to Oklahoma’s business leaders how to face that awkwardness, how to implement programs, how to keep them going and how to gauge their success.

Hundreds of people turned out for Oklahoma City’s inaugural Inclusion & Diversity Summit. Public relations firm Schnake Turnbo Frank partnered with a handful of sponsors to bring the event to the Oklahoma History Center on Tuesday. Participants came from around the country to discuss how to get more diversity into the city’s companies and how to ensure people feel included once they get there.
